Parking and Speeding

Did you know? One in five cars in the morning rush hour is taking children to school.

How Can You Help?

  • Keep your speed down
  • Turn your engine off if leaving your vehicle
  • Leave the middle of the road free, with enough room for other road users to easily pass through
  • Make sure your child leaves and enters your vehicle safely onto the pavement
  • Check for pedestrians and cyclists before opening a car door
  • Leave enough room on pavements for pedestrians to get past
  • Take care when reversing

Please Keep Clear...

  • Zig Zags and School Entrances
  • Dropped Kerbs
  • Resident’s Driveways and the Health Centre entrance and car park
  • Opposite or within 10 metres of a junction - so that children can see cars and cars can see children

There have been a number of incidents where the Health Centre car park is blocked and children have been running around the car park without supervision, creating a safety risk to children. Staff at the centre have been verbally abused by members of our community. Please remember that the Health Centre car park is not a public car park. I appreciate that there is a bottleneck and high traffic area at peak times, and the Health centre and school staff are keen to keep everyone safe in these high-risk times. We need support by ensuring that you park respectfully, you ensure that Smithy Lane and the car park is not blocked, and you remind children about road safety.

Essential Additional Funding for Children - Pupil Premium Application

Children who attend Heathfields are entitled to free meals under the ‘Universal Free School Meals’ initiative. However, are you aware that if you apply for the pupil premium grant you also receive supermarket couchers during the school holiday?

To check eligibility for ‘pupil premium’ free school meals and apply, go online to: www.staffordshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals If you already qualify you DO NOT need to apply again.

Label Children’s Clothing

Please remember to label all school uniform, water bottles, book bags, P.E. kits etc. as we've had a number of children already since returning to school in September, who have lost items because they haven’t been named, so we are not able to return them to the correct children.

PTFA

PTFA are recruiting new members to support the organising and running of events. If you are able to support them, please email your name to the office. Your contact name and email will then be shared with the PTFA for them to contact you. Please read the PTFA newsletter for more details.
